View Full Version : Attaching Pinchweld trim

I posted this in the body shop forum a few days ago but haven't gotten any responses so I decided to post it here..

Does anyone know the secret for installing the pinchweld clips and the trim that goes around the outside of the convertible top on a 69 Camaro?

I am having a heck of a time with this... Do you install the clips to the trim first or to the pinchweld?

I find that the clips don't fit the trim tightly so it is very difficult installing this trim when putting them on the trim first.

When I attach the clips to the pinchweld first, I can't snap the trim over them all the way; they slide down over the pinchweld and then there is no room to snap them over the pointed ends.

I read in a previous post about using screws but my new clips didn't come with screws and I don't know where these would be used.

Any tips or drawings would be helpful.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the reply Angel.

Yes I agree it should be simple but if you read my post I tried it both ways and couldn't get it to snap down on the clips.

Does anyone have a drawing or any tips on how these to install this trim?

thanks in advance.
