I want to replace the original fuel line coming out of the gas tank with 1/2" line. How do I attach the new line to the sending unit? Should I use aluminum or is another material better? I then intend to use 8AN to the fuel pump. This is in a '69 camaro with a delivery and return line in the sending unit. Is there a sending unit available that already has a 1/2" line in the sending unit?
Any thoughts are appreciated.
Thanks in advance, Ray Norlin

Putting a 1/2" fuel line onto a 3/8" sender will do you absolutely no good since the last foot of tubing inside the tank is going to be 3/8". You have to get rid of the 3/8" tube inside the fuel tank and replace it with tubing the same size as what you want to run on the outside of the tank.

What are you running that requires a 1/2" fuel line? L-88 Corvettes run fine with a 3/8" line - just curious. smile.gif

I'm not putting a 1/2" line onto a 3/8" line but replacing the 3/8" line in the sender unit with the 1/2" line into the tank.
Currently the car has a blown small block but this change is in preparation for a big block. Who knows maybe an L-88 would run better with a 1/2" line. I've never read any tests on the same car comparing performance of a 3/8" versus a 1/2" line nor have I ever tried it myself but I'm about to. One of the fun things in this sport is trying things and seeing how they work on your car. There are a lot of changes that don't make sense but are fun to do.

ray i have a 67 i put a 1/2 line in the sending unit it takes a little bit of work i used stainless tubing and brazed it in. I actually left the 5/16 line crimped it and drilled the 1/2 line right along side it i used a uni bit to drill the 1/2 hole and it drills a perfectly round hole if you use a regular drill bit it will be tough to drill a good hole because of the thin metal.the reason i left the 5/16 line is so you can bend the 1/2 line just like it and braze it down the bottom for strenght graemlins/clonk.gif

Serveral of the aftermarket parts supplies such as year one. classic camaro etc offer a complete sending unit with a 1/2" tube. That would be the way to go if u want to stay stock.
