I did a search on this and came up with a pretty good amount of info, but still didn't get a definite answer. I have a driver side mirror for my 69 in perfect condition, no idea whether its GM or another company, but it has always swiveled way too lose. actually chipped my paint a few times  and really wasn't useful at all, i've had it off for a while. i read in a couple spots about working silicone into the joint. has anybody actually done this and had it work? or successfully fixed it another way? i'm willing to buy another mirror too if i could be sure it was tight enough and good quality, so if anyone knows of a good one, that would work too. thanks guys.

I bought a set of repros from Rick's, ±3 years ago and I'm very satisfied with them. Just needed to grind a little bit of material, from the passenger's side mirror's shaft, so it can be set in the right position. Without grinding it a little, it was impossible to move it inwards enough so one can see correctly. Hope you understand. ;)

i think i'll try a repro from rick's, thankfully i won't have to grind since i only have a driver's side mirror. i'll try out a few things on this mirror too since it's just gonna sit. super glue, silicone, it's all going in there. thanks for the info.

just a question before i go spending money on this mirror. anyone know the difference between the year one 69 LH door mirror repro and the rick's repro? rick's is 49.95 and year one is 33.95. neither gives much info about the manufacturer, but i'm assuming the rick's repro is better quality.

Don't think you can assume that. Look around at 68/69 RS Vacuum cans. They are all made by the same company, but prices will vary from 69.99 to 109.99. Price the dealer gets from a manufacturer depends on his sales volume. The more he buys at any given time controls how much the manufacturer charges him. Year One probably sells more of them since they are the same across several Chevy model lines and year one sells stuff from multiple car models, where Rick's only deals in Camaro stuff.
