I was sold a NOS AM (oval)antenna for a 69, but from what I can tell it is for a 1967-68  . Did the 67-68 use an oval antenna? Also does anyone have a closeup picture of a 69 oval antenna showing the base where the mast screws in? Thanks,
Gary

Gary, I don't now about 67-68s, but here are the 69s. Oval for AM only (left) and round for AM/FM (right)

Thanks Kevin. Does the oval mast push into the base then lock in place with the nut at the base?

Gary, the bases look the same. The masts have a nut to unscrew and it looks like they could be pulled out. I know my friends Z10 car with original antenna pulls out.

Right on! (as we used to say in '69)

I purchased a "NOS" 69 AM antenna from a reputable repo parts distributor. The top of it has a round ball as opposed to an "oval" ball and has three sections (extends twice). Does anyone think this is correct? The pictures I have seen do not have a round ball on top. thanks,
Gary

Gary, it's tough to say what is correct and what is NOS, unless you have an original to compare against.

I will say that a LOT of NOS stuff being marketed are NOS service replacements. Genuine GM, serviced for that application, but might be a little (or a lot!) different from an original factory installed part.

The two extensions are correct. I plan to restore my originals.

The original AM antenna has oval-shaped sections, and the "ball" on top is also oval-shaped.

Also, the "Originals" had a groove around the oval tip
