Just purchased an 88 (5litre/auto)with 56k and checked for leaks prior to purchase and found only power steering seepage. After driving for 150 interstate miles, I noticed trans fluid on floor and think it is from the top overflow. The level is a little high and am going to change fluid and filter fri. Tranny shifts fine and the fluid looks and smells ok. Does anone have any sugjestions?

High fluid will cause them to puke. I believe what happens is that the fluid level gets up into the rotating parts, froths up and blows out the vent. You should be fine after you drain some fluid or change it. If you dig around in the transmission forum, you'll find some good hints on how to change the fluid with minimal problems.
