Can anyone tell me if the chamber exaust option was available on any of the 69 camaro convertibles I think it was available on a pace car with a small block but was it available on a small block ss convertible?

I checked several sources and they indicate that RPO-NC8 Chambered Exhaust was not available on any 1969 SBC (LM1/L48) Except the Z-28, in early production as standard (until 11/68) and later as an Option only until @ May of 69. It was also available on 396 SS models as standard and then an Option during roughly the same time frame.
It came in a couple different flavors over time.
I never saw it on a 350 unless added later.

Hopefully Jonesy and others will chime in if incorrect.

All Pace cars are SS convertibles.

Technically, it was only available on Big block coupes and Z28 made between the start of production and about mid November 68 as part of their respective option packages. It became optional on those two types of cars after that date until May 19th 1969 at which point it was discontinued. No 69 Camaro made after 05B has original chambered exhausts on it.

It was not part of the small block SS packages, however nothing states it could not be ordered on a small block as an extra cost item. I don't think that the original setups will fit a convertible because they lack a bend in the head pipes that allow the mufflers to pass through the floor pan stiffener. There are two types of repro pipes out there, one with these bends that will fit a convertible, and one without the bends will not.

I have a set of repro ones on my convertible, and they fit fine as long as you get the correct set and loosely bolt everything up and adjust it correctly.

Most chambered exhaust sets come with polished exhaust tips. Original sets never had polished tips, so if your going for a 100 percent original car be aware.

My 69 pace car has an original chambered system on it. Although not correct for the car, it clears the convertible X-brace just fine.

My understanding is that it was standard on Z28 and l34& l78 from Sept68 to Nov 68. It became an option thereafter with those engine options until it was deleted in May of 1969 . I do not believe it was available with the L48 or l35 engine as an option, or convertible. The reasoning for it becoming an option rather than standard was that the chambered system was outlawed in some states and counties, therefore not available for sale.
