Hi Nick,
Just to add to what I posted on the Chevelle site the '71 SS came with 14x7 wheels with F70x14 white letters. The wheels looked like the ones on this car with hubcaps... (remember I'm not a 2nd gen guy)

These would be the optional Zj7 17x7 Rallys...

Then there is the 15x7 Z 5 spoke wheel... Someone will correct me if I got any of that wrong...

The SS got 14" wheels only. Steel wheels with a hub cap. If you splurged a bit, you'd get the 14 x 7 "rally wheel", which looks like the bottom picture (depicted above).
If you had some extra cash, you'd go to the service counter and buy the 15 x 7 Z28 wheels (which were also available optionally on the 1971 SS Chevelle - to give it a 15" wheel finally). These wheels DID NOT come available on any Camaro other than a Z28.
So that's it. Your choice of groovy hub cap or a fancy steel wheel with a chrome center cap that flies off the 1st time you buzz the tires.

PS: According to ME - those 5 spoke wheels are known as Z28 wheels. They debued in 1970 on the Z28. And since they were so cool, someone decided they'd look slick on the 1971 Chevelle. And they do. So the chevelle was allowed to use them. They're still "Z28" wheels. ;)

Glad you were lerking Mike... We have discovered there must have been 1354 sets of 15" wheels and tires bought over the counter in '71!! Check out Nicks orig post...
