Pardon my ignorance but I have a transmission fluid leak coming from where the trans fitting is crimped to the speedometer cable. Is this a failure of the fitting/cable or perhaps is there an inner seal that has failed allowing fluid to reach the fitting?

Thanks in advance

Dave

Dave assuming its on your 68, if its an automatic like mine there are seals inside the fitting that can leak and fluid crawls up the cable and comes out dripping on your leg. If it leaks outside the fitting near the tranny it could be that screw on piece. Here is pic of the inside of that unit I had trouble with. The seals and gears are all available at most good tranny shops.
Good luck in nailing it down, I hate leaks.

Jim:

Thanks for the reply. That looks to be the problem.
