Hi, I am currently having problems with my 4sp saginaw. I was wondering if its possible to put a later model (80's camaro) 5 speed transmission in my 67. What would I have to change? and do they make kits that come with everything to make this swap an easy one. I was also wondering if I am just better off looking for a good muncie. Any suggestions will be well appreciated.
Thanks,
Vin

I originally had a 4 speed Muncie. I contacted Forte's for a tremec 5 speed with overdrive. They provided all the necessary items needed including a new crossmember, clutch, and yoke. They also have a shifter that fits in the center console shifter openning. Everything fit like they said. Do a search on the internet for Tremec. I have heard good things About Forte's, 5speed transmission. Good luck.

A 5 speed manual transmission install is fairly straight forward for your car. Check out Classic Chevy 5-Speed at www.classicchevy5speed.com. (http://www.classicchevy5speed.com.) for morte details.
Take a look at the installation notes section and you should find the answers you are looking for. We can provide you with everything you need to complete the swap.
Free shipping for Team Camaro members (US only excluding AK & HI).

I did a conversion in my 67' from a turbo 350 to the tremec TKO. I bought a complete kit except for the clutch pedals. I got those with the Z bar from Ricks First Generation. I did run into a couple of issues. One was that I was not sent the transmission mount to go on the cross member. I had to cut a lip off the transmission to get the electronic speed connections, and had to shorten the drive shaft 4". But overall it went pretty well and I'm very happy with the install. I have not got to drive it yet, working on an engine problem. I would recommend this set up.

I did the 5speed tko tremec also from Forte's, it worked great, thet do send everything you need to make the changeover. Check out my website, look up the 68 Z-28, that was the last one I used it in.

Guys, he said he wanted to put in a tranny from a late 80's Camaro... I assume he has one from a donor car. That tranny is NOT a strong transmission 67RS. It was only offered in the 305 for just that reason... unless I'm misreading your post.

This swap has been done hundreds of times, and the Camaros are the easiest ones to the swap with.

I'm currently having a tremec tk-500 installed in one of my 67 Camaros. It isn't cheap, but it should be a vast improvement over my stock 3-spd manual.
