I looked at an old beater P/U for my Son this afternoon and the title was notorized from out of state back several years ago but never sent in for re-issue under the present owners name here in Missouri.

What are the dollar pentalties here in Missouri since it wasn't transferred in a timely manner if I was to buy it if anybody knows??

My buddy that went with us to check the truck out said it can be several hundred dollars but he really didn't know for sure since he hasn't bought one like this?? He just told me to be careful buying it b/c it may end up being a real expensive hassle??

Anybody know for sure??

pdq67, I think there is a limit to the fee and if I am not mistaken I think it is around $110.00. Now that is just a guess and I may be wrong. The best thing to do is just go by or call your local license office. If you cannot get an answer there just call information and get the number for DOR, they should know what the penalties will be if there are any.

I thought I would ask here early so that I would have some sort of idea what is going on .

I'm going to drop by the Truman Building in Jeff City tomorrow around 1:00 or so on my lunch time off and ask DOR like you mentioned.

Hopefully I can go back to the Seller and say, we can split the penalty and I may do OK.

BUT the old P/U is definately a "beater" so have to watch myself b/c it may cost more to get it to pass inspection then it is worth?? Even as a work-truck..
