Im thinking of installing some slapper bars on my 68 with mono-leaf.Is there a preferred set for this application that works good.I noticed from looking in the catalog that there is several different sets available with and without j-bolts or u-bolts.What is your opinion?Ihave some air shocks on there right now so the car sits level.I can't handle the rear end sagging, you know what I mean. Thanks for your input on this.

I'm not too sure what you are looking to spend, but if money isn't an object I would recommend the Cal-Tracs bars. I put a set of them on my 67 and I'm very pleased with them. There are a bit pricy, but they are adjustable which makes them a good candidate for both Street/Strip applications like my car. If you are interested check out this link: www.calvertracing.com. 2SLO , I feel your pain< mono's and slappers w/ air shocks>I did get the slappers to try to help with the torque steer<rear kicking out to the right>which did help with lots of hole shots in front driveway :D .The torque steer is gone and I never had a wheel hop problem.I know they're not recomended for use with mono's, but if you do, get 'U' bolts.

if you don't mind me butting in, what is the purpose of what your trying to do? If it is for traction, use a set of mono's with traction bars and no air shocks, but a gas shock. The air shocks make things very stiff and won't let the car squat.
If your looking to raise the rear up and bring it back to factory height, buy yourself a new set of springs, in fact, if your car is sagging that much and your need air shocks to lift it, you may just want to buy a new or good set of springs.
SouthSide Machine Co. (SSM) makes a very good set of traction/lift bars. But if your on a budget, check out Jegs or Summit and they sell traction bars at a reasonable price.

Bruce hit it on the nose. The SSM bars are great. But, as Bruce says, get new springs if they are in that bad of shape.

They make three leaf muti leaf replacements for monos. The conversion is easy and doesn't require new perches or anything. The third leaf is only attached at the center bolt so it acts as a slapper bar. I put a set from Hotchkis on my 67 and I'm very happy with them, but they lower the rear 1.5" from stock. On my car with 35 year old monos, the rear actually raised .25". But VetteBrakes makes them at stock height.

2SLO4ME,

Go to the suspension section and post exactly what the goal for your car is regarding handling and you will be steared in the right direction.
