On a TH350 , in a 77 Camaro Type LT, To do a basic filter and fluid change, dropping the pan... how much fluid will I have to replace? ... Thanks In advance ... sdtsdt

If you are not draining the convertor, it should take about 8 qts to refill. Dump in 4 or 5 quarts, then start the engine with the rear wheels firmly supported on jack stands. Dump in one or two more quarts. Run it through the gears forward and back making sure to stop the wheels before reversing or parking. Then with the engine still running in park, check the level. Add 1 pint (1/2 quart) at a time until it's full (and hot). The marks on the dip stick are in 1 pint increments unlike the engine oil dipstick which is marked in 1 quart increments.

I wouldn't dump in 4 or 5 quarts. I really dont think that just the pan holds that much.

The 4 or 5 quarts refill the top half of the converter with a little extra to keep the transmission lubed on startup.

I am looking to do this this Sunday ... I will post back with how much it takes ... I will begin at 3 Qts and maybe a bottle of Lucas Trans Treatment ... then go from there ... Thanks for replying guys ..... sdtsdt

I was planning to delegate this to my son ( 20 yrs old ... college kid ..on break ) as part of his evolving hands-on education. He's been a little "busy" the last 2 weekends ... We have 1 more week-end before he goes back to college ...
