I recently had some work done on my Powerglide tranny & the repair person indicated that i could use new or rebuilt pumps . He does NOT have any replacement parts for them.Trans is out of a 67 Camaro//350 . I was told that 1962--1966 had 2 pumps & the 67 models only had one pump.Anyways mine has 2 pumps & need to find a pair of them @ a reasonable cost!!

Alum cased Powerglides started in '62. They only had one pump. Earlier P/G's were cast iron and have two pumps. Oil pumps can be bought from any trans parts retailer.

The trans man had the right info about the possibility of aluminum glides having a front and rear pump. If your trans has 2 pumps, check Steve Oldani's web site or contact him. I saw a picture I believe on his site that showed how to bypass a rear pump, since it's not necessary for operation. I could tell you how, but the pictures are worth thousands of words.

I was told by Steve that 1962--1966 were the only powerglides to have rear pumps & in 1967 they had only One pump in the powerglide. Please email my email home address to discuss this furter. Thanks

Powerglides did have rear pumps until 1967 and until 1969 in Corvairs.
My 1962 Impala SS with a 327 and Powerglide had a 2 pump 'Glide.
The great thing about it was you could Push Start it! And I needed to many times graemlins/clonk.gif
It was a completely stock set-up when I bought it in 69.
GM replaced the rear pump in 67 with a casting for the governor support that was the same size as the rear pump housing.
Any pre 67 Chassis Overhaul Manual will have a cut-away showing this rear pump location.
Hope this helps;
John
