my wife's 67 ccoupe has a powerglide that i would like to swap for an o.d. trans. The car has a six cyl. eng. and i've heard a 200r4 will bolt right in with very little work. My question is will it work and what cars did the 200r4 come in. Any help is appreciated.

I am going with a Stage 2 Bowtie 200R4 tranny for my 465HP 383. They seem to get some good recommendations here on the board, as well as a friend of mine who is very happy with them.

Their Level1 is $866, $50 off if you pick up the tranny else they pay the first $100 shipping (Basically free to cali people)
Same price 200R4 or 700R4, but the 200R4 will replace the powerglide/th350 without any driveshaft modifications although you probably will need a new crossmember. They can tell you what you will need. I hear Ricks has better pricing the crossmembers ($50).
Note, the Level 1 tranny is a serious tranny, its not just a stock rebuild, its well overbuilt, fast shifting, sporty, similiar to the TCI Streetfighter series trannies.

You will need a turbo 400 crossmember. The 2004r has multi fit bell housing. They came in several Gm cars in the 80s. Olds , buick , pontiac and chevy, V8 applications. For your application a good rebuild with a shift kit would be all you need. Not only will you get overdrive but also better gear ratios. 2.74to1 first compared to 1.82to1 with the glide.
