Hello all,

As most of you know, I recently did a PG to TH350 swap. I had a local shop build the tranny with a transgo stage 2 shift kit.

I have driven the car only about 3 miles since install. One thing that I noticed during hard (3/4 throttle) acceleration was that it seemed to have a slight shudder when you accelerate from a rolling start. This slight shuddering doesn't seem right to me. Is this something to be concerned about? Any thoughts about the cause from the tranny experts here?

The tranny is still under warranty from the builder. I will take the car to him if it is something that is an issue.

Thanks,
Mark P.

How's your driveshaft? I might look at that first if you only get the 'shudder' at take off. Make sure that everything is straight, aligned , correct pinion and transmission tailshaft angles and that the u-joints are in good condition.

As long as the transmission is solidly in 1st gear, it shouldn't cause this kind of problem.

It is hard to say. First off, I'd be in touch with my rebuilder right away to make them aware. For starters, I'd check and inspect the modulator and vacuum line. Make sure the line is connected and clear. Ensure there are no restrictions or kinks in the line up to manifold vacuum. Blow air through it while disconnected and both ends. If that doesn't reveal a problem, try turning the adjustment screw inside the modulator can counter clockwise 1/2 to 1 turn. Beyond this I can't think of any other DIY fix. Did the rebuilder reuse steel plates in the clutch packs? Were any of them glazed over? Is the torque converter new? Make sure your engine mounts and tail shaft mount are properly secured. Make sure the cross member is properly bolted down.

Thanks for the reply guys. I'll check out the stuff you mentioned. I installed new u-joints and a new Energy Suspension trans. mount during the swap.

I'll double check that nothing has loosened up (crossmember, trans. mount, etc.)And run it builder too.

Thanks,
Mark P.
