Hi Guys,

Can anyone help me with this rear axle (PW 1129 G). I got this 10 bolt out of a 69 parts car. From my searches, the PW is listed as a 3.08 for a 1975-77 camaro . Will this axle match up "properly" in a 69 or will I forever be Jerry rigging it? What do the other numbers mean?
I'm building a manual transmission car. Is this a correct ratio?

Thanks

1967 Camaro has a code for PW = 2.73

What is the casting number on the pumpkin?

Jonsey,
It looks like N 3894859. On the other side it has GM23.

N 3894859 = 10 bolt 67-69 Camaro.

So we know it's not a 75 rear end.

PW is a 1967 Camaro code.

The other numbers mean:

1129 = November 29th
G = Detroit Gear and axle plant

The should be a casting date on the pumpkin, like K 18 6. It would be in an area like where the casting number was. This would confirm 1967.

Jonesy,
The only other mark that I can find is the GM 23. Is the PW the 3.08?

I think you need to look on the pumpkin- on the cover side. Take a wire brush and brush at about the 10 and 2 o'clock areas on the same side as the cover.

PW is 2.73:1 for 1967

Found it! I believe it says K226, although the 6 could be an eight. My best guess would be a 6. Upon opening up the cover, I found three molar size pieces of steel. I've been unable to find anything that looks to be broken. I plan to use this axle with a four speed, do you have any recommendations for "general use" gear ratio?

K 22 6 = November 22 1966 is when it was cast which goes along with the stamping on the axle tube. Thats a 1967 Camaro 10 bolt rear. The best rear gear ration depends on which manuyal trans you plan on putting in. M20, M21, M22??? What are your plans?

Thank you very much for the information Jonesy. That was very helpful. Being out of a 1967, does that explain why the new 1969 shock plates I got from Rick's don't line up to the T-Bolts? It has the mono perches and I'm converting it to multileaf, but the holes are a bit off.

I hope to use a M21 tranny
