Today I pulled the camaro out of storage and took her for a ride everything felt great until I slowed down on acount of the guy in front of me taking a left turn, by the time he went I was slowed down to around 20mph so I hit the gas (while the car was still in drive) and the car did not want to move it was slipping big time so I pulled over to a stop and put it manually in 1st and it took right off and then I shifted in 2nd it was strong and then to 3rd and fine again. then when I came to a stop at red light I left the car in drive and took off and it did not want to shift into 2nd so I put it in 1st manually and went through the gears just fine. I dont know whats wrong, the thing works great and very strong when shifting manually but wont work otherwise. never had any trouble when I put it away last year and its only got around 6000 miles on it (350 turbo 3000 b&m stall) fluid level is good also. does anyone have any ideas whats going on? sorry such a long post

If you have all gears working except 2nd when the shifter is in the drive position, and then can get 2nd gear manually by putting the shifter in 2nd, you most likely have hurt the intermediate sprag in some way. In drive the sprag itself holds for 2nd gear application of the intermediate clutches. In manual 2nd or on a downshift the intermediate band holds the drum stationary along with the sprag. Thus, if you only have 2nd manually it means the sprag has taken a dump and the band is holding by itself. Time to pull the trans apart if this is what you have described, but it is somewhat hard to know with your description of things.
