I am in the process of restoring a 1969 Bowtie Camaro. I purchased a used 383 Stroker, and have it ready to go to the machine shop. Now I am looking at a used Muncie. The guy wants $600.00 for it, and I had it checked out by a transmission guy I have worked with before. The problem is I could'nt find a casting number on the main case. The side cover is 7 bolts and is stamped "GM 3952648". Also, there is a tag under one of the side cover bolts that is stamped "981709 WT". Do those numbers translate to anything? Will this transmission work with the 383?
