I have a 67 Camaro with a 454 and 10 bolt rear end that needs to be upgraded. I would like to purchase a bolt-in with disc brakes (currently have drum). That would solve two problems. I dont race it, but want something that can get up and go when gassed. What 12 bolt posi ratio is best? 3:55, 3:70?

I certainly have access to online sources (YearOne, etc) but does anybody recommend a dealer or dealers?

Moser engineering can set you up with a brand new, bolt in 12-bolt with the gear ratio of your choice.

You might want to decide what kind of top end you want before you order it. I know 3.73's are not real good highway cruising gears.

Thanks. Sorry for the late reply. The holidays and the wife delayed my plans to replace the rear-end. So many things get in the way of the important things like my car! ;)

I just want a solid rear-end for the highway. Something more stout than my 10 bolt. Suggestions? Things to avoid?

I figure with a 454, a 12-bolt with 3.23's, 3.31's or 3.42's are just about dead-nuts on when used with a 25.5" to 26.5" tall tire!!

BUT I also figure you can go up to as high as a 3.07/3.08 rearend gear too b/c a 454 is a torquey motor to say the least!

I just wished somebody would re-pop the 3.31's is all..

If you just want something to hold up to some street abuse then you might want to consider the 8.5 10 bolt from a Nova. They can be upgraded with 30 spline axles to make them almost as strong as the 12 bolt, for a few hundred $ less. The 8.5 would be quite a bit stronger than the 8.2 10 bolt that you have now.
