i have a 2004r transmission and the shaft coming out of the bakc of the transmission is loose. you can move it up down side side from one side of the seal to the other, is this normal? i have not had an auto in about 8yrs and cant remember if this is the way it is suppose to be. thanks

I think the design of the one piece case made
it nearly imossible (or impractical) to cast and machine a place for a supporting bushing, so the
engineers opted to leave it out. The lo/rev clutch
housing and the center support do most of the
support work, so the output shaft doesn't really need to be supported behind the rear internal gear. smile.gif
