I recently purchased a 69 camaro with an LT1 350. I noticed that the T5 transmission is very similar to the Muncie setup. Because of this I was wondering how difficult it would be to swap out a muncie for one of these T5's.

Does anyone know what the torque rating is on the world class T5 transmission?

Would this swap require anything more than an upgraded clutch and pressure plate?

Thanks

the world class T-5 is supposed to handle a maximum of 300hp, I had an 86 5.0L Mustang with a T-5, only 225hp and it blew-up, I admit it was a weak transmission, BUT I do like the idea of putting in a World Class T-5 which is supposed to be stronger... dont know about the swap, try and find out which GM cars came with the WC T-5 smile.gif

it would also require replacing the bellhousing since the t-5 is canted 17 degrees. I am putting one in a 68 327 210 which should handle the torque. The world class is rated at about 320 ft lbs.

The Mustang T-5 is installed straight up. GM installed them in the canted position. I didn't think that GM ever stepped up to the WC T-5 because they never put the T-5 behind a 350. The regular T-5 was fine behind a 305.

Someone sells a bellhousing to mount the Mustang version behind a Chevy engine.

I trashed a couple of T-5s with my stock Mustang back in the early 90s. Second gear is the weak link.
