Today, in my 67 SS coupe, when I removed the rear inner trim panels, I found an old pair of binoculars, a childs tennis shoe and a beer can with the old syle pull off opener,,,what is the strangest, long lost items you've found in your Camaro?

It wasn't in a Camaro, but I found a 71, 72, and 73 Sears & Robuck catalogs still in their paper wrappers in the 70 model bug that I bought when I was 16. I also found several calendars of that era.

I just removed the rear seat from a 67 firebird the other day at work, which had never had the rear seat removed before. I found an old smog slip, some change which was dated from the mid and late sixties and one of the old owners or passengers wallet.

Freekin hypodermic seringe (sp?), in a 77 TA, which was wrecked. Go figure.

Most cars I had were very interesting to strip down, almost like an archiologist uncovering history. The newest money I found in one of my 71 Z28's was from 1975, and I found drive in movie ticket stubs dated in the early 70's. (this car was parked for 18 years before I got it).

I found a pair of panties in my 80Z shortly after I got it. They were stuffed under the passenger seat. I don't recall if I was responsible for them getting there, or if they were included in the purchase price.

i found a bunch of pop cans and shop rags in the quarter panel of my 76 monte when i kicked it and the bondo fell out of the quarter panel. these items were mixed into the bondo to add structural integrity. gotta love Minnesota cars and shady bodywork.

I had two 33-gal trash bags full of women's clothing,

I ponder about seeing the last owner, a size small purple T-shirt, size 5, 5-inch black heels, thong underclothes.

But the best thing I found in the clean-out of the back seat and trunk is a '68 penny. I put it into the glove box for safekeeping (luck).

When I pulled by back seat of my 69 Z/28 I found a package of Bayer Aspirin in one of those samll tins they used to sell. It is Circa 1970, also an insurance slip for one of the previous owners dated 1972, some coins dated in the 60s, and best of all beautiful shiny Garnet red paint. That is what you get with a 30,000 mile original car!

My '69 had been parked for about 5 years when I bought it. I found several speeding, exhibition of speed, racing, and equipment violation tickets in the car. Turned out Dad grounded the kid and when he found out the equipment violation was for stripping the smog gear off the car was parked for good.

I worked in a VW repair shop in high school and college - you wouldn't believe the stuff we found in customers cars! Bags of rotten fast food, plenty of drugs and pot, knee deep trash, guns - it's unbelieveable how people keep their cars.

I found what I believe were three bullet holes in the rear quarter just below the quarter window on the drivers side of my last 69 I bought. I thought they might be holes from where a dent puller was used, but there is absolutely no creasing on the sheet metal in this area. Got to believe if there was a dent at one time there would be some sign no matter how good the body man would've been.

Hi All,

Although my find wasn't strange, it was rewarding in a way. While I was looking for the build-sheet for my 69 SSRS, I found a handwritten ticket which was issued by the Hackensack, NJ Police Dept. for a moving violation. It was dated 1969. I found it folded underneath the drivers-side seat below the carpeting. I immediately left for Trenton the next day and was able to get a copy of the original owners license from the info that was written on the ticket. Unfortunately, he had just recently moved to PA and passed away. I never did get a chance to talk to him, but I was lucky enough to find out about the cars history from neighbors and very close friends. I too found some drive-in ticket stubs from the early seventies in the front heater ducts and a dried mouse under the back seat. While changing a fender on another Camaro I owned years ago, a huge almost perfectly preserved dried crow dropped out of the area between the firewall and the fender. No nest, just the bird.

Pulled the front seat out to do some under-dash work on my original, sold new in Canada '69Z (us old farts don't bend like the skinny youngsters do - we need some room http://www.camaros.net/forum/smile.gif ), found 38 cents in Canadian dimes, nickels, and pennies dated 1967-68 - no Krugerrands, though http://www.camaros.net/forum/frown.gif . Have never pulled the rear cushion out - maybe it holds some other Canadian treasures.....

musica del sol 8-track cassette, Marriott's Great America season pass (circa mid 70's) and a bunch of other crap. the seats smelled like weed when I took them out, I think the car was used for something other than driving pretty often.

I found the build sheet in the door of my 82 el camino . Roach clips, nails, dead mice, mouse poop, mouse nest, under the carpet and behind pannels in my 79 blazer it smelled so bad of mice my eyes watered. I have yet to pull up the seats of my camaro.

Thanks to my loving sister, who owned the car before me, there were pounds of the nastiest 10+ year old Dalmation dog hair on the planet. There was dog hair even in the headliner. That stuff gets everywhere.

When I took my 73 Z28 apart for Restoration starting in 1995 I found a pair of Dog Tags buried in the vents. I am the origianl owner so I think these might of belonged to someone on the assembly line. I have tried to look them up however never had much luck.

Bob R,
Being retired NAVY, I can tell you that there are several sites on the net for finding ex-military, especially if you have dog tags! The numbers are either SSN or military assigined which make it real easy.
Try again, now that the world is connected.

I found about 6 bucks in change in my Malibu, and a couple parking tickets, and around 350lbs of dog hair. This guy really loved his dog.

In the '83 Camaro, I found a whole buncha pot roaches, a pair of socks, a baseball cap, and half a set of SAE wrenches.

Not the Camaro, but in my '96 Impala under the backseat I found an unopened prize from a Cracker Jack box. It had 3 mini baseball cards, and one of them was Mark McGwire in an A's uniform. Pretty cool find since I'm a St. Louis native and Cardinals fan. http://www.camaros.net/forum/smile.gif Haven't found anything out of the ordinary in the Camaro yet. On Saturday I found Gumby on top of my kitchen cabinets though. http://www.camaros.net/forum/confused.gif

My parents bought a 197? cadilac.
Took it to the dealership about a rattle more than twice. The third time, Technician pulled the door panel off the Rear Drivers door to find a coke bottle with a note inside that read:
To the rich son of a bi_ch that bought this car.

My buddy pulled a flashlight out of the door of his IROC, the light was one of those cheap plastic units that is light blue in color, We think the door panel has never been off before.

thats probably a big part pf the bad rep we have among "normal" people. i donno what people did with these back in the 60's and 70's, but i bet that was a big part of it. glad thats not the big thing to do in camaros anymore...so i hope.

A few years ago I had a 69 RS. In it I found a real nice refillable cigarette lighter with a built in watch! Engraved are the words Tammy and Phillip September 23, 1971! I still have the thing.
