Just got my 6 speed Viper tranny in my camaro last night. First test drive, 1st gear great, then shift to 2nd...nothing. 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th also all work great just no second. I think this is the skip shift on the t56 trannies that stops you from shifting into 2nd. How do I get rid of this. Obviously there is a solenoid on the tranny that somehow has to move a synchro or something over to engage the gear, so I'm guessing I got to run power to the connector somehow. But how much power? I've looked all over online, but got nothing, they sell skip shift kits which is a plug that gives resistance to the ECU end of the connector to the tranny. But obviously I have no ECU so what am I gonna do? Where can I find voltage pinouts for this or maybe someone here has ran into this before. Thanks so much guys. I wouldn't have got this tranny in the car without you guys and I'd be happy to lend out help for others that want to duplicate this swap, but gotta get the 2nd gear prob taken care of so I can stop dumping on 3rd.

I think the skip shift solenoid forces a 1 to 4 shift. It is powered by the engine computer and must have voltage applied to block the shifts into second and third (that is, it's not like the reverse lockout, which needs voltage to permit the shift into reverse). If you're getting third gear easily, you may have another problem. Good luck.

Well, I was hoping I wouldn't hear that it was a messes synchro or gear. I just got the tranny in the car and a pain it was. I'm gonna call Borg-Warner tomorrow to see what they say. Would it make any difference if I have a speedo hooked up to it or not? Also I'm using a camaro shifter on it, this make any difference? Thanks guys!
