I just instaled a Hurst comp/plus shifter in my 68 camaro, When I shift into revese,1st,3rd the shifter hits the shift plate. I ajusted the shifter all the way back on the install kit but I need about another 1/4" more . Can I the extra room from the stop bolt on the shifter???
thanks kevin.

Have you aligned the box and adjusted the shift rods to length? Hurst provided an alignment pin, or you can use a 1/4 inch drill bit.
Disconnect the shift rods at the shifter, insert the alignment pin into its hole in the shifter box. This places the shift box at center.
Place trans in neutral. Take a shift rod and adjust the length to where it easily slides into the shifter for all three rods.
Assemble all disconnected rods, remove the alignment pin, set (back off) the stop bolts 1/2 turn from touching the shifter when 3 & 4 are selected.
This should take care of it, at least it did when I installed one in mine years ago.
Another suggestion you can do is to remove the mounting plate, drill two more holes forward of the existing rear U-bolt clamp and place a spacer, one each per bolt, between the m/plate and trans case, say 3/8 -1/2 inch. This will move the shifter to the rear, and lengthening the shift rods should not be a problem.
