Should I replace my axles while I'm changing the seal/bearings/ring/pinion? The rear is in my 67 Conv and is the original 12 bolt with 180K miles on it. It had 3 problems when I pulled it apart. 1) a roar for the last 50K miles
2) 2.73 ratio
3) sticky posi clutched when warm

I've pulled the axles and I don't know if they can be reused.

The LH has a slight grove where the seal rides on the shaft.

The RH one feels smooth but looks worse

Thanks

IMHO, I'd brighten them up with emery cloth and see how they look. If it doesn't take much to brighten them up they are probably fine. Might check for straightness and twisting before commiting them though.

Clean them up and see if you can still feel a groove with your fingernail. Mine looked worse than your and I got the bearing/seal repair? kit... moves it all out some to new ware spot.

They look good to me. There is no pitting and the wear looks very light for the miles that you said were on them. I would clean them up, install new bearings and seals and be happy.
