I have a 69 z/28 that currently has a saginaw 4-speed in it. Want to put the correct muncie m-21 back in the car. also currently has a hurst comp. plus shifter in it. question: What problems if any will i run into doing this swap?? I have been told the linkage will have to be changed as the saginaw linkage will not work on the muncie, but what else. I think the hurst shifter is correct for my car? Will i be able to leave the same bell housing, clutch and such? Also will the same drive shaft still work/i.e. correct length an splines?? How about the cross member? Just want to have a good idea of what will need to be gaithered before i start the tear down.

Todd, pull the saginaw and put the 2 tranny's side by side... The bell-housing mount pattern will likely match .. You need to count splines on input and tail-shaft ... If input splines numbers are different, the muncie won't work with current clutch setup ... You can get an install kit with correct linkage and mounting plate...Summit or Jegs ... Length and output spine count will determine if muncie will work with your current yolk ... Also, now is good time to check u-joints while drive shaft is out .. Last thing ... check condition of pilot bushing ... Onc gain, now is the time to change it if necessary ...

The only difference is the shifter rods, arms and
the shifter mount. Everything else will fit.
