I'm about to buy a T56 transmission...The guy that sells it is asking around $2200 for it and he claims it's rebuilt by "Boyd Coddington"...Also the shifter has been moved 4 inches forward.
What's the difference in a T56 from a Camaro or Vette compared with a Viper T56 ?
I'll be running a Dominator carbed 468 Chevy Bigblock in my 68 Camaro...Will a T56 take this torque load ?
All help is greatly appriciated.
Heres som pics of the tranny.

Boyd would not be a name to throw around as far as tranny rebuilding; he's a custom car builder, not a transmission specialist. The T56's are pretty tough, many guys run them with 10 second late model Camaro's and Vette's. I will be running one behind my twin turbo small block.
That price seems high but I don't know what the shifter re-location costs. I bought two used trannies, one with 5K miles and one with 8K miles for $1000. each. I believe Mark Stielow has a guy back east who sells them with upgraded Viper inputs and a couple of other mods for about $1800. Not sure about the shifter re-location though.

Hi there Jody !
We have been talking about transmissions before...but at that time it was the TKO we talked about.
Anyway.. this T56 is in Sweden and is the first one i've seen for sale in over a year...wich makes it a bit unique. The price should be ok over here since it costs an extra 25% in tax to bring something in from the U.S. not to mention the shipping.
The things that worry me about this unit is that shifter relocation wich has resulted in grinded down reinfocements on the tailshaft..this cant be good. And last but not least why would he want to sell it unused since 1997 ?!
What can be wrong with a T56...things i should check etc. ?
