I have a 68 camaro convert. with a 396 automatic trans. At this point the car is just a shell. I would like to convert it to a 4 speed. I have a M-21, and a 12 bolt to go in it..
Does anyone have some sort of template, or idea of where to cut the hole in the trans tunnel for the shifter?
I'm looking for #'s on the rearend, but so far these are the only ones I can find
8969341 NF, and then it says GM 66..
Are the spring pearches different between a mono leaf setup, and a multi ??

Thanx

Actually it's 3969341 and it may not be a First Gen. Camaro rearend.
I found these right here in this forum......

3969341NF could be late '69 Camaro or '70 Nova or Camaro. If it's a late 69 Camaro or 70 Nova, it is a bolt-in. 70+ Camaro axles need the perches moved to fit in a First Gen. Camaro.

Yes the perches are different between the mono and multi leaf springs.

Thanx for the reply and the links Hwy Star Joe..
I'm just about to get serious with this project, been collecting parts for a long time..
Do the 68's have a factory traction bar like the 67's? or did GM eliminate that when they went to multi leaf springs?
The 12 bolt I have came out of another 68 camaro, so I know it fits, but I can't read the #'s on the tube...too much rust.
I may look for another unit all together. I have a 68 L-89 almost complete to go with it..
thanx Herb
