I am a first time writer. Can you please tell me what would be involved to go from a factory saginaw 4-speed trans. to either a t-10 or a super t-10 transmission??? Will it bolt up to my bellhousing? Can I use my shifter?? Will I have to alter the drive shaft? Thanks in advance for your help!

Welcome to the Team!

1) It will bolt in as long as the clutch disk is the same spline.

2) The shifter will be different, but you can just order a linkage kit and a mounting bracket to complete the swap.

3) The driveshaft yolk will need to be changed to a TH400 yolk.

That pretty much sums up the easy stuff. The shifter is going to need the most changes out of any in the swap unless the clutch disk needs to be swapped for a different spline count. But the Super T-10 is a great transmission.....

It depends on which trans you get. A regular T10 needs a new shifter and maybe a driveshaft yoke (depending on the year) A first design ST-10 is a direct replacement except the shifter. A sec design ST-10 needs a clutch disk a shifter, driveshaft yoke driveshaft shortening and a shifter change that can be a nitemare if you have a console.

I crawled under my friends 68 and it said "T10" on the trans. How can you tell the difference between a T10 and a Super T10? Are T10's better than muncies strenght wise? Thanks, Ray

i have a T10 out of an early 60's Vette in my Nova, and it used the same spline clutch disc as a saginaw, but has a funky output shaft with something like 10 splines- same as a really old powerglide, i think. can't tell you how the shifter will fit in a console or whatever- i went from auto on the column to the 4 on the floor. also, i believe a t10 is a bit longer overall than a saginaw- like an inch or something. might need a shorter driveshaft.
