The part that holds the rear U joint to the rear end? There are 2 of them and they bolt to the rear yoke. Are they available at the local parts store? I cant find what they are called and I need to get them.

Thanks

Bob

Depends on if the car is an SS or a Non-SS. Non-SS's used U-bolts, lockwashers and nuts to hold the rear universal to the rear yoke. SS's and Z28's used a strap and two bolts to hold the rear U-joint to the yoke. Not sure if this is a 10 bolt vs. 12 bolt axle oddity, but it's identified in the RPO L48 section of the assembly manual. If you have a 12 bolt you may find the straps instead of U-bolts even if the car isn't an SS.

The U-bolts are P/N 1358938, lockwasher is P/N 103320, and nuts are P/N 102634. The straps are P/N 3882979, and the bolts are 3887348.

Its a 10 bolt out of a base 69 convertible. I guess I can get those parts from GM?

Thanks

Should be able to get them anywhere that sells U-joints. Some place like a NAPA more than an AutoZone probably. Those are the original part numbers and the service numbers from GM may be different now, although gmpartsdirect.com still lists the ubolt number as a good number with a description of Bolt U pkg of 2 $3.19, washers are a good number too, .26 apeice. The nuts don't come back as current number though.
