I have a 94 with 3.4L V6 and 5 speed. How do I properly bleed the master and slave clutch hydrolic? I have followed what the Chilton manual says but I don't get any pedal pressure and the pushrod only travels 1/2 inch. The gears won't go in when the engine is running. HELP!

Thanks in advance.

I wont say it's impossible, but it's certainly not too easy. When I put my T56 in my 69, I started with the (used) slave cylinder/master cyl/resevoir hose assembly, and to bleed it, you have to drive out the roll pin from the end of the master and get the hose out, etc. From there you probably know what to do. But, the question is, why does it need to be bled, what went wrong to get air in the system? Is the pushrod set up to drive the cylinder without being angled too much? If it's not pushing straight, that can cause the seals to be loaded on one side and ruin your MC...Even after I bled mine, I knew it wasn't working all that great, so I just bought a whole new assembly. GM sells the whole assembly (master/slave/resevoir/line) pre-bled, in a sealed bag, for $90. It was worth every penny...

Try filling the reservoir about half way, leaving the cap off.

From under the car, (with bleeder closed) manually work the slave pushrod in and out, pushing fluid up, until the bubbles go away.

Gravity bleeding is also worth a shot.

Thanks for the suggestions. I replaced the slave after putting in a new clutch set since there was fluid seeping out of the old slave. I filled the slave with fluid prior to attaching the hose and then pushed the slave rod in and out a couple dozen times accroding to the manual. I don't see any signs of bubbles coming up but I still don't feel any pressure on the pedal until halfway down. There is no bleeder on the slave itself so gravity feed is not possible.

I'm planning to remove the hose and bleed the master then reattaching the slave. I hope this works. I'm still open to other ideas.

If you 've filled the slave before install, then can you loosen the hose and use it as a bleeder to remove the hose air?

One inch of m/c stroke s/b one inch of slave cyl travel if they are the same diameter. If slave is smaller diameter, then more stroke length at slave.
