I have a 1968 camaro with a 350/330 hp. My rearend has a 2.73. I have a 350 tranny in the car now. I would like to improve my take of power. I was looking for a good combination without changing the rearend, just changing the gears in the rearend and using a 350 tranny or a r700 tranny. Does any one have any suggestions. I am not looking for a drag car I just want to find a sweet spot. I would like to hear from soneone who has done the change over so you could tell me how you combination works and the problems I will run into while I am changing it over. thx

Welcome to the site -- good name BTW LOL

I went from 2.73 to 3.55 (eventually to 3.73) in my 68. The difference in take off power was big . . . I went from 13.2's in the 1/4 to 12.8's with the gear change and a new higher stall torque converter.

With a 3.55 gear my cruise RPM went up a bit though -- it ran about 3400 RPM at 65 MPH.

I love my 3.31's!

At 3100 rpm, M-20 tranny, and with stock 25.3"/5" tall tires you should be running right at 70 mph in high gear which to me is very good road running..
