OT, but I know you guys can help me out. smile.gif

My youngest daughter rides a Yamaha PW50 and I found out the hard way that they are notorious for having a problem with the start/run/off switch when it gets wet. The solution is to waterproof the switch, but with what exactly (product name would be great)?

Thanks!!!

Try a spray silicon lube (similar to wd40 but silicon based). I've had excellent luck with this stuff over the years on electrical parts that were affected by moisture. I think I still have a can of this stuff I have been using for years...I can't remember the name of it though. If I think about it later today I'll dig thru the storage building and see if I can find it.

Fill the void with dielectric grease,or
Try a condom, cut the end off, slide it on, or
Spray with WD-40.

I know I'll get alot of controversy about #2, but, they work as a waterproofing device, fits most any shape.

Liquid Electrical Tape... now that makes just to much sense.

Did an internet search and found that it should be available at Home Depot or Lowes.

Thanks! graemlins/beers.gif

my next suggestion was going to be to keep it out of the water :D

Well after looking at how the switch is put together I'm going to have to go with some spray silicon lube like Travis suggested or dielectric grease per Everett. The switch is actually in pieces that get held together when you put the grip assembly together. When you pull the grip assembly off it just falls out. graemlins/clonk.gif

Thanks again to all!

On my daughters Polaris 90 I packed the switch with grease due to the fact that it always got wet and the quad wouldn't start. Since the grease, no trouble at all, about 2 years now.
