(Sorry it's So Long!)I recently posted about clutch spring location. To clarify, my clutch was originally setup with the return spring attached from the fork to the pivot arm, which would not return the pedal all the way to the top, so someone had added a second spring under the dash. I realized this was incorrect and relocated a new spring to the block, and now to the header tube with a clamp as was recommended. Now here is the problem, when driving, after releasing the clutch pedal, there is a noticable noise that sounds as though it is coming from either the linkage or the clutch. I would best describe it as a vibration or rubbing noise, maybe a little like a bad speedo cable sounds, but not quite so squeaky?? when you push in on the clutch to shift it goes away, but when fully in gear it is there. It is most noticable it the first three gears, not so much in fourth. The kicker is I really don't recall this noise before I relocated the springs, as aside from this noise the car has absolutely no squeeks or rattles. I am a little baffled and am thinking about hooking the 2 old springs back up how they were to see if it goes away. I relocated the new spring several times as to not have the fork pulled too far up or down and now have it perfectly parallel to the line of fork movement. And thoughts?? (Sorry so windy)

best guess would be that the throwout bearing is still touching a few of the arms on the pressure plate. I'd try putting that second spring under the dash back on, too. Lemme know if it helps, perhaps I could use one too.

I used a heavier spring than was on there berfore, so I would think that would have pulled the fork back even more??

well.... I'm reaching....often a noise that goes away when you put your foot on the clutch is a bad throwout bearing, but I know you don't want to hear that, now do you?

As for the heavier spring, it depends on the leverage, I guess.

Well it wasn't doing it before, so I'm thinking it's not the bearing. I'll check the linkage adjustment to make sure it's letting the fork pull back far enough??.
