I'm swapping in a 4speed for my TH350, The tranny guy says he needs to cut a hole in the floor and doesnt like to do it because he does not know exactly where to cut...is there a template or measurement I can get? or does he just not know what to do? THanks

If it is basicly a stock swap, there are dimples on the trans tunnel the factory used to mark each corner. Other than that, install without the handle and mark the floorboard for the hole, measure then cut.

I did the same swap a couple of years ago. I searched extensively for measurements. They were all somewhat different. So I ended up just cutting the hole to fit.
Install the transmission as far in as possible. Cut a small hole to fit the shifter stub through the floorboard. Keep making the hole a little bigger until the transmission is in. Then cut the hole large enought so that you can shift into all gears. For the final sizing I used the chrome trim ring that holds the shifter boot in place. Scribed a line around the inside of the plate and cut to that.

drag,
do a search on this site. i did mine by placing the console in position with the plastic shift tunnel installed and traced the shift tunnel opening onto the hump. keep in mind this is for a 68-69 style console. i'm not at all familiar with the 67 console so this may not work for you.
good luck!!

The final hole that you cut isn't very much larger then what is required for clearance around the shifter. Based on that I would caution against just cutting a hole based on the dimples in the floor or location of the console. Go slow and only cut what you need to as the trans is slide in.

Dragon,
Sorry if you didn't get what I e-mailed you..
I got my Z-Bar from National Parts Depot.
Not a bad price at all b/c I went with a re-pop, not an NOS, OEM..
And a BB Z-bar is a 1/2" longer then a SB Z-Bar.
