I have a 350 with a holley 600 and stock internals with a stock rearend in a 67 camaro. The cam I want to use is a blue racer cam that was given to me. The specs are 224 and 234 at .050 duration and lift is 465 and 488. My question is will I need a stall converter. The car is just driven on the street. I want this cam for sound. If I need a stall converter and dont use one what will happen to my idle speed because I have never had a stall converter so I dont know what will the consequences if I dont use one. Does anyone know anything about this cam does it sound good and do I nedd different valve springs for it.

The cam will sound good but it might be a bit much duration if you have stock manifolds and less than 9:1 compression. You would want a stall of 2200- 2500 for that cam. It might run and drive with a stock converter but you will have no power off the line and may kill the engine occasionally when you stop at a red light.

An 11" converter that stalls near 2500 or so would be a good choice. It lets the engine work in the rpm range where the cam has moved the torque curve to. Still very streetable as well. They are fairly inexpensive as well.
