I have posted a few messages on my 12 bolt install project. What is a good price for the labor to 1. remove my 10 bolt 2.install a 12-bolt rear-end, 3. install a power brake master cylinder?

I am looking to buy a complete bolt-in 12 bolt with rear brakes too. (I currently have manual drums and want to upgrade to power disc in the back while we are back there)

Thanks. graemlins/clonk.gif

Well, I can help with the 12 bolt. I am a Moser dealer and I can get you a complete, new bolt in 12 bolt. As for the installation labor, I would guess about 3 hours to swap one out. Don't know about the brakes.

Thanks. You have been a tremendous help. I will certainly keep your offer in mind as I begin the next phase... aquiring the funds.

Installing the rear end is not that difficult at all. It can be done in an afternoon. A good heavy duty floor jack or a second person would be a help while trying to bench press that heavy thing into place...

Swapping the rear end is pretty easy if you follow the service manual. It can easily be done in 3 hrs. The service manual has you pulling the axles and removing the backing plates with brakes intact. From there you unbolt the housing/shocks, bolt the new one in, install the backing plates/brakes and axles, fill with lube and your good to go. You don't even have to bleed the brakes since they were never apart. The backing plates are interchangeable between 10 and 12 bolt rears.

Discs in the rear don't buy you that much from a braking standpoint in my opinion. On the front it's a different story. Just my $.02
