There is someone on ebay selling a "traction bar" (early style?) posi unit with 3:31 gears. I emailed him & asked for the code stamped on the axle. He says there isn't one that he can see. This is a heck of a lot of money to bit on something I can't go check out in person, ya know? I don't know if my ULR paste will work but, its on ebay under "1967 posi." Some of you guys, give me your opinion. Thanks

I believe the traction bar is wrong. I think it's from a Firebird. The bracket on the housing looks weird to me as well.

See... That's what I was thinking. The bracket doesn't look like the one shown for the early (or late) style traction bar. I didn't know Firebird had a simular set up in 67.

That is a Chevy 12 bolt. As far as I know the Firebird didn't get a 12 bolt, only the BP 8.2 10 bolt.

I put a 67 traction bar 12 bolt in my sister 67 RS and the bracket looks nothing like the one in the auction. The "I" beam bar I'm pretty sure is from a Firebird although they didn't come with 12 bolts. The only ones I've ever seen have been either round or square. I think I recall seeing a Firebird rearend with the "I" beam one.

Big Gear Head,
What about the "no code" on the axle issue? Have you ever seen a Chevy 12 or 10 bolt missing the stamp? I know the numbers on the pumpkin are correct for a Chevy 12 bolt.

The code would have been stamped about the same place where the traction bar bracket is welded on. I don't know much about the traction bars, but the bracket on the housing looks like a piece of rectangle tubing that has been cut and welded on. It might not be original.
