I was wondering if anybody has had any luck/expierience with putting in a new crossmember for a 200 4R or any tranny for that matter, after instaling solid body mounts (the 1/2" lowering units from DSE). I also have DSE subframe connectors welded in which appears to limit my ability to "lift" the body off the subframe to make room to massage the cross member in. I swear if the body mounts were the original height not the 1/2" lowering units it just might make it! The 400 crossmember that i have in now is actually mounted to the botom side of the subframe and i am concerned that It may have alignment/angle issues. Thanks,
Dave.

I used the TH400 with my 2004R install; fit perfectly. I always loosen the rearmost subframe bolt on each side and let the subframe drop down. This allows the crossmember enough room to slide in.
I can almost guarantee the driveshaft angle will be off if you leave it where it is. You could build a spacer I guess to get it back to the proper height, but I'd try the method above first.

I originally used the T400 x-member, but later switched to the BTO unit. The T400 unit unit has to be removed if you need to remove the trans pan - which was often for me as I sorted out the shift points via governor weights. The BTO fits very nicely and is a MUCH easier install, however it may interfere with your current exhaust system.

Thanks for the quick replies! Jody, I loosened the rear bolts but the subframe connectors (DSE) are not going to allow the subframe to move from the floorpan at the welds which therotically has been good thing... The connectors are a wonderful piece of engineering just wish i saw this coming graemlins/angry.gif I figure somebody out here might have the same connectors and the 1/2" lower body mounts, and some words of wisdom. The new crossmember I am trying to install is a BTO and looks like it has a way better chance of fitting than a stock crossmember would. I even tried to fit it with the tranny out and still no luck. Maybe i should get a bigger hammer?
