heres the senerio, i just got done rebuilding the engine and powerglide trans fired it up today for the first time and man did it sound mean(open headers)! ok so then i go to move it. i put it in reverse i get nothing, then shift into 2nd same thing nothing and first too. ok so that all sounds like a gear pump tooth or teeth broke off but heres the tricky part. if you rev it to 3000 or so in any gear it will start to move backwards...not much but enough to move the car a couple of inches. so any suggestions? it does have a trans brake in it and with it engaged or not i have the same problems.
fluid check is full, and yes i have a deep dish pan and have the extention on as well. we took the cooler hose off the front and it wouldnt spit anything out till you hit that 3000 rpm maker.
i dont know kinda dumb founded

help me the best you can guys
any info is great thanks

Sounds to me like you missed getting the pin in the internal shift arm positioned correctly into the manaul valve, which is the one that fits into the valve body and selects the gears. Drop the pan after you drain the fluid. Go to my site and click on the 'trans tips' page and scroll down a ways to find the photo of the proper shift linkage orientation. 99% sure that is what you will find if none of the gears seem to work.

lol, there are plenty of guys out there with as much knowledge as I have on them, they just don't happen to frequent this site. Happy to hear you fixed it!
