I have a daily driver camaro--- a 99 3.8 for the gas mileage etc-- but i have no experience with anything newer than 86-- does anyone know what kind of tranny i have??

It shifts like 5 or 6 times when I accelerate.. very sloopy shifts might i add... 138,000 on it.... sometimes fading into the gear... somtimes locking really hard into it---
and if im doing 50 in OD getting it to go into 3rd is impossible without the accelerator 3/4ths to the floor-- then is explodes into a pass....

I've been manually taking it frm [D] to D to get it to downshift---

ive had my rear carrier assemby replaced once-- at about 40,000 -- and im pretty sure this one is smoked too-- shifts have been hard for a while and its had some of the other symptoms as b4 for a while now too...

could that be the cause?

Also put a Vfoce muffler on it-- possibly one meant for an 8--- could I be havin backpressure issues??
