Ok guys.. Probably a stupid question but I have been searching through the archives on either converting to a manual from th350 or just swapping to some sort of OD tranny. Then I came across the gear vendor option. Here's where the stupid question comes in.. What is it exaclty (besides a virtual od)? How difficult to install? Is it a bolt in? Being it is elect. controlled will I need to change\add any wiring? Will my shifter have to change?
Right now I have a 69' BB, th350 with 3.55 gears.. Don't really like hitting 3100 rpms at 70 mph.. :(
Open to any other suggestions..
Thanks in advance!! Joe.

69427,
Do a search in this forum on Gear Vendor, it has been discussed a few times. I have one and I love it.
No, you do not have to change your shifter.
It bolts to the rear of your transmission, with an adapter that takes the place of your tail shaft housint (4 bolts on the th350).
You will need to have your drive shaft shortened.
Yes, you have to run a few wires (real simple), it is all self contained (meaning you just add power) and you don't have to cut your actory wiring.
How hard it is to install is impossible to answer it really depend on your mechanical ability. Was not hard in my opinion.
It is an overdrive/underdrive. It will turn your th350 into a 6 speed (1st, 1st OD, 2nd, 2nd OD, drive, drive OD). It can be controlled manually or automatically. In auto mode it will switch into OD at a set MPH. In manual you can switch into and out of OD in any gear and at any speed.
Do a search here, there is good info about it. Even a pros and cons list.
