I'm looking for info to end the having a stiff entry into gear for my muncie with hurst shifter. Just put the metal bushings for the shifter in today but didn't help diddly. The old ones were metal and plastic bushings. Oh well. Anyway I can't believe all my syncros are making it hard to get in gear like snapping a socket on a wrench. It does the same thing when the engine is off.

Next to solve the double or triple tap to down shift to second. Going up is great but down most of the time to second is like no way unless I tap the spot a couple of times.

The synchro rings should do their intended job of accelerating the next gear to the same speed as the gear coming from. Going up in gear pattern is easy as the next gear is the same speed.

However, downshifting, the gear to be selected must come up to the same speed as the selected gear. A stop in neutral and a little touch of the throttle helps, i.e., double clutching.

You might try Redline MT-90 lube. I use it in my Nissan 300ZX gearboxs and diff's, 3 of them, and works great.

Another thing you might do is to replace the synchronizer assembly, 2 each, a small parts kit, has needle bearings, thryst washers, etc., and a gasket set and rebuild the Muncie. It only takes a day and can be done on the workbench.
