I HAVE A 8.5 IN 10 BOLT IN A 1974 CAMARO.
I AM RUNNING 4.10 GEARS AND WAS THINKING OF SWITCHING TO 3.73 GEARS. I WAS TOLD THAT IF I WANTED TO DO THAT I WOULD NEED TO CHANGE MY CARRIER FROM A SERIES 3 TO A SERIES 2 CARRIER.
ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED
THANKS

no need to yell- we can read you just fine.
you won't have to change the carrier, unless the 3.73 gears you are getting are for a 2.73 and numerically lower carrier. most 3.73 gears are made for the 3 series carier, so you are good to go with what you got.

Derrik is right, you don't need to change the differential. The 8.5 10 bolt only has 2 different series differentials, the 2 and the 3 series. The 3 series is used for everything from 2.73 to 5.56.

OK, the 8.5" have two carrier series, the 2 & 3. Just one 8.5" 10 bolts posi carrier series? Found one with 3.07 gears and 'm going to instal it in my brother's 68 Chevy II, together with and early 70s Nova housing. 'm I right on track with this, any advise?
