Compared to the price of other manuals with overdrive, do ya'll think this is a good price, or not??? Please read the following:

Muncie Overdrives?

A number of customers have asked whether we can build Muncie "in case" with overdrive gearsets like those they have seen in Ford Top-Loaders and
Chrysler A833s. While the existing case limits our ratio opportunities, we can build a gearset with approximately the following ratios:
2.20/1.35/1.00/0.87.

What is the cost of an M20 or M21? Thanks

Mike,

We started shipping the M21Y overdrive gearset last week, with ratios 2.199/1.506/1.000/0.859. Pricing for all our complete assemblies is
being reviewed presently, but until the prices changes (next week earliest) an M20 or M21 are US$1600, an M21W (2.521/1.726/1.346/1.000) is US$1660, and an M21Y is $1700, all f.o.b Syracuse, New York.

Thanks for asking.

Thanks for asking. Considering the current price for TKO-600s I'd say thats a bit much for a 4sp.

Well, seems to me that you could just run the standard M20 gear set with it's 2.5 low and about .25 higher rear gear and end up with about the same setup!!!

Sounds like a lot of money when you can buy a TKO-600 for a little over 2K!!

Well... the responds so far are in line with what I was thinking. The only real advantages
to me for a Muncie are: 1)The Muncie is more original to the car 2)From what I've read,
the Muncie would be easier for me to install 3)I wouldn't have to cut the tunnel like with
the TKO. BUT... For the overdrive to ever pay for itself, how many miles would I have to put on the trans?? My camaro is pretty much of a daily driver. Still, I can buy a good used Muncie for $500.00 or less off of ebay. ;)

Just thought I would give my 2 cents worth. I have a Doug Nash 5 speed for my Chevelle. You can put a 2.73 or so rear gear in the car, and still have killer performance in the first 4 gears, then just drop it into 5th and drive forever. I personally plan on 3.31 gears which will make the first four gears virtually identical to having an M21 with 5.13 gears  Best of both worlds in my opinion, and a much stronger trans than all of them.

Not to nitpick here but I seriously doubt that the Nash/Richmond is stronger than the TKO-600.

BillK,

I thought the Doug Nash 5-speed became the Richmond 5-speed??
