ok heres what i did this is the first time that i have rebuilt a pg for the drag i have a trans brake that is going into it and so far everything was going go... till now smile.gif
so what the problem is:
i bought the book seeing how this was the first time i have done this. it said to tap a hole in the priming pump and thread a alan wrench plug in it to replace the tiny pin. well so happens that when you do this and try to push the priming valve in over the threads it will get stuck. yep thats me i did it  anyways so tonight i took the pump and drilled the threads out with a 1/2 bit to free the valve and got it out successfully but now i have a 1/2 hole where im not for sure if it is suppose to be or not? im curious whether or not i still can use the same valve or not?
also later on in that same week i talk to a guy and said the only thing that they have been doing to there racing trannys for 35 yrs was taking that pin out and replacing it with a 3/16 cause there was no need for anything bigger and he also thought that putting a plug in it with a hole drilled in it wasnt...well to smart.
anyways let me know what you guys think
thanks alot

I personally prefer a larger roll pin myself over a plug but have seen both used with success. Take the valve on out, and see if it will still stay snugly in the pump bore in it's closed position. You can easily see this with the pump apart by looking down into the cavity where pump pressure works on the valve. If it fits okay then I would not be too concerned. Just make sure that the bore is not so large that the valve will move around. If you take the valve out you will see the port that bleeds off the pressure, so make sure it will not be bound up if it opens up a bit. Unless you are running a lot of line pressure the OEM pin actually will hold up pretty well. If you need help, email me at oldani@forbin.net.
