I have an 1987 iroc z28 with a 700r4. I am builing a 383 stroker carb not tpi. Would someone explain how i can use my 700r4. I need to know how to wire it up. I am going to put a th400 in it but i need to drive the car before the trans is done. Would someone show me an article or just explain it to me. You can e-mail me @ big68block@yahoo.com. The trottle valve cable on these TH700R4 trans is critial for it controls shifting.

There is an article about hooking up the cable in the latest issue of Hot Rod magazine. Very informative.

It goes through the distance from the carb plate axis to the point of cable end attachment, then attach a gauge to the pressure port on the drivers side of trans to monitor the oil pressure given in a gear selected. Also, the degree of the arc needed to pull the cable to max position.
