I decided that I am going to put an eaton posi in my 67 Camaro. I called a local rear end shop and they quoted me $800.00 Wheres the best place online to purchase these units, or is it better to find it locally. And just how hard is it to install for someone who has never taken the cover off a rear before. Thanks in advance.

Went with Big Gear Head. for my 8.5 Eaton setup for the whole kitten & caboodle with new axels for 7 & 1/4 delivered.

Best bet take the parts to a rearend shop and have em install them. This is not a place for a novice to jump into without an experienced person to back em up with.

The Eaton posi is $350 and the bearings are $40. A good shim set is $22. You will need a dial indicator with a magnetic base to check and set the backlash. You can do this yourself if you know how to read a dial indicator and have plenty of patients. This job requires installing and removing the differential several times to get the shims correct.

Thanks guys. Sounds like I better find someone that knows what their doing. Any suggestions on where to buy the posi online? Or is it better to look for a local shop. Figure shipping might offset the savings, and I do like to spend my money locally. It would be quite a drive to have you do the work Gear Head. lol
Thanks again
