I was looking for a used 12 bolt posi carrier on Ebay and came across these three. Can you guys tell me which, if any of these will work in my 1968 camaro 12-bolt rearend.
#1) 4 series 12 bolt carrier out of a 1968 Chevelle.Part #EDB-30174
#2) 3 series 12 bolt for 30 spline axles out of a 1972 Nova. Part #EDB-30130 194
#3) Eaton 3 series posi. Part #EDB-30140
Thanks for all the help.

They will all work....depending on your gear ratio.

All of them should be an Eaton. There were no other 12bolt 'posi's available until 1995 (Auburn). All of what you have provided for selection are Eaton units. graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Number 2 is not for a 12 bolt if it came from a '72 Nova. The casting number is also not for a 12 bolt Eaton. Number 1 and 3 are 12 bolt Eaton and will work in your 12 bolt with the right gear ratio. Don't buy one untill you are sure what gear ratio you will be using.

Thanks for all of the quick replies.
One more question, will gears that were going in a 1997 Camaro Eaton carrier, fit in a Eaton carrier for a 1968 camaro?
Thanks

No.
The 1997= 7.5 GM
The 1967-1969= 8.2 GM or 8.875 GM

I think he could have given a little more information on the gears. It looks to me like a thin 4.10 ring gear, which means it will need a 4 series posi. The pinion looks a little small, like a truck gear, but I could be mistaken. I don't have my Richmond catalog handy so I can't look up the numbers. Find out more information before you bid. Be sure it is a car gear and not a truck gear (both are 12 bolts) and find out if it fits a 3 or 4 series differential.
