My 67 camaro currently has a 3 spd auto transmission in it. It is a little worn out and I would like to replace it with a manual transmission. Does anyone know if it is a problem to switch from an automatic to a manual? I heard it is tough to do and problems occur sometimes. Also, I was considering purchasing a Turbo transmission (auto or manual) from Summit. Are these good trannys, or are there any suggestions for a powerful (less expensive) one?
Thanks,
Samuel

Is the trans a Turbo 400 or a Turbo 350? The 350 pan looks like a square with a corner cut off (like New Mexico). The 400 is irregular, & looks more like Texas. The 400 uses a unique crossmember, while the 350 crossmember is the same as the manual trans used. The 350 also uses the same driveshaft yoke as the manual. Rick's First Gen has conversion parts, but if you could find a 68-74 Nova with manual trans. many of the parts will interchange. I'm not sure about the pedals, but the rest should work.

What do you mean by a little worn out? Is it slipping or doing something bad?
Swapping to a manual trans gets expensive quick because you have to get everything from a clutch pedal and Z-bar to the pressure plate, throwout bearing, shifter, linkage, etc.
I'd stay with the trans you have. Have it rebuilt if its going out.
